We’re AI enthusiasts. We had three subscriptions — Claude, Codex and Gemini — plus a weakness for every new open-source model, especially the ones that run right on our own machines. Each came with its own harness, its own rules file, its own quirks.
We tried the tools that were out there — OpenCode, OpenRouter and the rest. Good tools, but each covered one piece of the workflow, so we ended up with a different tool for every step. Keeping them all updated became a job in itself, and making them work with each other felt like sinking time and money into one tool after another as the pile kept growing.
We used them for everything: chat, checking one model’s answer against another’s, whole workflows. And one thing kept proving itself: the best answers came from letting the models cross-check each other, each on its own strengths.
So we set two goals. Make models fungible: any model can take any seat, and swapping one out never means starting over. And make it scale: two models cross-checking an answer or twenty building one thing, the same way.
The result is one tool for all your subscriptions and the local models you choose, on your own machine, with no one company’s pricing deciding how you work. That independence is what Zeus is. We’re still those enthusiasts — we’re building our own NVIDIA DGX rigs now — and this is the tool we wanted all along.
